The 3WAYSTE® technology and system has been selected by SUEZ Environment for a new facility that will process 170,000 tons household and business waste a year under a 15-year contract worth 242 million Euros awarded by the inter-communal syndicate for waste treatment SYDNE. Operations are scheduled to begin on 1 July 2019. The project is being implemented by Suez subsidiary Inovest, Energipole Group which holds the territorial sub-license for the 3WAYSTE® technology and 3WAYSTE SAS.
Almost 30% of waste will be transformed into secondary raw materials (cardboard, plastic, ferrous and non-ferrous metals) and compost while 48% will be used to produce a high-quality solid recovered fuel (SRF) to power an electricity production facility that will supply renewable electricity to 22,000 households.
With the 3WAYSTE® solution the region will be able to reduce landfilling by 72%, which will take it over the 50% waste recovery target by 2025 required by French environmental transition law.
